Robert A. Castañeda

Robert A. “Bob” Castañeda, a 30-year resident of Quincy, passed away at Tufts Medical Center on Friday, September 9, 2011 at age 60. Born in Guatemala City where he was raised and educated, Bob came to the US at age 19 and worked as a laborer for Local 223. He later graduated from Quincy Junior College after studying environmental science. A longtime soccer player, he was a member of the New England Over the Hill Soccer League and Whitman Men’s Soccer.

The beloved husband of Patricia A. Castañeda, Bob was the loving and cherished father of Robert S. Castañeda of Quincy and Leigha L. Cutone and her husband Anthony of Weymouth; dear grandfather of Gabriela Cutone of Weymouth and Lily Barry of Ireland; loving son of Dora (Vasquez) Castañeda of Guatemala and the late Geraldo Castañeda; beloved brother of Gerard Castañeda of Brockton, Mauricio and Tulio Castañeda and Chata Sanchez, all of Guatemala and José Quinonez of Whitman and is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 14 from 4:00 to 8:00pm at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home 74 Elm St. Quincy Center. Family and friends are invited. Funeral Services will be private.
