Joseph R. Steen, Sr. passed away peacefully on Monday, November 22, 2021 at age 82. Born in Quincy, he was a life-long “Necker”, who started clam digging with his brothers at a young age and clammed for many years thereafter. Joe was a Veteran of the United States Army. He was the loving father of Joseph R. Steen, Jr. of Randolph, Joseph M. Steen and his wife Bridget of Lowell, Joanna Steen and wife Lori Stowell of Epping, NH, Jaime Steen of Reading, stepdaughter Kelly Salvucci of Holiday, FL, and the late Michelle M. Steen. Grandfather of Amanda Goguen, Jack Steen, Catelyn Steen, Ryan Steen, Jake Steen, Kyle Lombard, Renessy Tejada, Jasmin Tejada, and Renzi Tejada. Dear brother of Thomas Steen of Quincy and the late Dorothy Burgess, James Steen, John Steen, and Mary Tegan. Uncle to many nieces and nephews. One of Joe’s favorite pastimes was to be visited by his grandchildren. He was an avid Boston sports fan and was passionate in his love of animals even once rescuing a cat and aptly naming it “Lucky”. He could often be seen feeding squirrels in his back yard, fearful they’d go hungry. His love of cooking leaves us with memories of his steamers and famous meatballs with his “secret” sauce. There will be a Graveside Service on Saturday, December 4, 2021 at 11:00AM with Military Honors. Those wishing to attend should gather at the Greenleaf Street entrance of Mount Wollaston Cemetery, Quincy. Donations in Joe’s memory may be made to the South Shore Humane Society, P.O. Box 850187, Braintree, MA 02185, southshorehumane.org. |
