Marion T. Cortese of Quincy passed away at home on Monday, April 12, 2010 at age 75. She was the daughter of the late Omero and Josephine (Mercurio) Cortese who were lifelong residents of Quincy. Born in Quincy, where she was raised and educated, she graduated from Quincy High School in 1952. During her career she worked as a controller for Grossman’s and was with the company for 45 years before retiring in 1997. With her many friends, Marion enjoyed traveling to many countries and enjoyed frequent trips to Foxwoods, Las Vegas and Mohican Sun. She especially loved her local bingo games and dining out. Above all, Marion was a devoted sister, aunt and great aunt. She was the beloved sister of Joseph F. Cortese, QPD, Ret. Of Quincy and Teresa M.(Cortese) Clardy and her husband Charles of Randolph, loving aunt of Christine M. Fletcher, Michael Cortese and his wife Grace of Sandwich and Joseph O. Cortese of Quincy and Godmother and great auntie to Luke C. Fletcher, Jr. She leaves behind many other relatives, friends and special people important during her life. Marion will be remembered for her kindness toward others, her honesty, integrity and above all else her selflessness. She was always thoughtful and considerate of others and will be truly missed. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, April 18 from 2:00 to 6:00pm at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home 74 Elm St. Quincy Center. Family and friends are invited. On Monday there will be a gathering at the funeral home at 9:00am, followed by a Funeral Mass at Saint John the Baptist Church at 10:00am. Burial is at Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. |
