Helen T. Doyle, 96, formerly of Quincy, passed away peacefully at the Cardigan Nursing Home in Scituate on Saturday, October 15, 2022. Helen was born and raised in the Houghs Neck section of Quincy and was the last remaining child of 8 children born to the late Margaret (Ryan) Doyle and John Patrick Doyle. Helen was predeceased by her 7 siblings: Joseph, Thomas, John, James, Margaret, George, and Mary (Meyer) Doyle. Helen worked at the Fore River Shipyard during WWII and eventually became a senior secretary at MIT where she worked for 18 years before her retirement. Helen won several bowling awards in a league she helped organized and was also an active member of the Old Colony Ski Club. She was also an avid golfer and swimmer. Her greatest passion; however, was following each of the Boston sports’ teams with a particular fondness for the Boston Red Sox. For many years she never missed a single televised game. Helen is survived by her nieces and nephews: Kerry (Joe) Tondorf, Christian (Marie) Meyer, and John “Ted” (Wanda) Meyer; Clarice (BJ) Doliber, Maureen (Duncan) MacCallum, Ellen (Scott) Petersen, Kevin, and Mark Doyle; Marilyn Ruzzano, Susan Lynn, and Steven (Alyse) Doyle; Deb (Ann) Cheney, and Laurie Doyle. She also leaves many great and great-great nieces and nephews. Helen will always be remembered for her quick sense of humor and her often corny jokes, which were affectionately referred to as “Helen jokes.” A Visiting Hour will be held at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 26, 2022, from 12:00 noon – 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers and in remembrance of Helen, please consider a donation to UNBOUND.ORG which is an organization that sponsors children from impoverished countries. Helen sponsored several children through this charity and cherished the letters and pictures she received. Helen’s family wishes to thank the Cardigan Nursing Home staff for their kindness and compassion towards Helen for the past several years. |
