Mary B. (Cameron) Gilbert, 89, of Quincy died on February 29, 2012 surrounded by her family at Ledgewood Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Facility in Beverly. Born in Heatherton, Antigonish, Nova Scotia, she moved to Quincy in 1945. Before retiring in 1986 she had worked for New England Telephone. Mary was an avid Red Sox fan and loved playing cards and going to Foxwoods with her friends. The beloved wife of the late John D. Cameron and the late Harold “Bud” Gilbert, she was the loving mother of Donna Connolly and her husband Joseph of Orlando, FL, John Cameron and his wife Darlene of Antigonish, Nova Scotia, Arlene Cameron of Prescott, AZ, Gail Campatelli and her husband Fred of Beverly, MA and Rosemary McGowan and her husband Paul of Woodbury, CT; dear grandmother of Joseph and Jennifer Connolly, Shannon Healy, Michael Campatelli, Christopher Coults, Jenny Cameron, John and Eileen Cameron, Lauren and Owen McGowan, Jason Gilbert and Hallie Ferguson. Mary was predeceased by four sisters and four brothers in Nova Scotia and is also survived by five great-grandchildren and over one hundred nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held on Friday March 2 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00pm at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home 74 Elm St. Quincy Center. Family and friends are invited. On Saturday there will be a gathering at the funeral home at 9:00am followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00am at St. Joseph’s Church 550 Washington St. Quincy Point. Interment is at Mt. Wollaston Cemetery. |
