Romeo F. Gramazio of Rockland passed away at his longtime residence, Coyne Heathcare Center on Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at age 87. Born in Quincy, he was raised in Quincy Point with his five brothers. A graduate of Quincy High, he was a MA State wrestling champ in his weight class for 3 years. His love of the ocean led him to serve with the Navy during WWII and Korea aboard the USS New Jersey in the Pacific and later to retire to Bradenton, FL. He worked for the Fore River Shipyard, Sigma in Braintree and Balco Inc. in Newton. The consummate handyman, he always enjoyed life with his family and friends, as well as clamming and fishing. Romeo was loved and admired by all who knew him. The beloved father of Marilyn Gaedtke and her husband Joseph of Pembroke, Janice Curtis of No. Attleboro, Cathy Kovacs and her husband George of Verona, WI and the late Donald Gramazio of Norfolk, he is survived by 5 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and his former wife Mary (Conway) Gramazio. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, July 1 from 4:00 to 8:00pm at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home 74 Elm St. Quincy Center. Family and friends are invited. On Friday a graveside service with Military Honors will be held at the MA National Cemetery in Bourne at 10:45am.
