James A. “Jim” MacGillivray of W. Quincy passed away at home with his family at his side on Wednesday, February 17, 2010 at age 87. Born in Boston, he was raised and educated in Dorchester, living there until 1997. A WWII Army veteran Jim was at the Battle of the Bulge. He worked as a mail handler and retired from the South Postal Annex. In his spare time, he loved to read. The beloved husband of the late Eleanor J. (Frink), Jim was the loving father of Laureen A. MacGillivray, Ronald J. MacGillivray, both of Quincy and the late James D. MacGillivray, dear brother of Elizabeth MacNeil of Chelmsford and the late Angus, Malcolm and Daniel MacGillivray, Rita Kilmain, Mary Varley and Sr. Catherine MacGillivray, SCNJ. Visiting hours will held on Sunday, February 21 from 2:00 to 6:00pm at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home 74 Elm St. Quincy Center. Family and friends are invited. On Monday, there will be a Funeral Service in the Funeral Home at 11:00am. Burial is at Blue Hill Cemetery.
