William A. “Bill” Maloney of Quincy passed away at home on Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at age 83. Raised and educated in Cambridge, he lived in Quincy over 40 years and was employed by Gillette Corp. for 41 years. A WWII Navy veteran, Bill was a member of the Eagles and enjoyed golf. The beloved husband of the late Helen J. (Corcoran) Maloney, Bill was the loving father of the late Kevin M. and William J. Maloney; father-in-law of Deborah A. Lavalley of Pembroke and Joanne Maloney of Braintree; devoted grandfather of Kerri A. Bassill of Quincy, Kristin R. Maloney of Whitman, Deborah A. Pomella of Halifax and Marissa Lavalley of Pembroke; great grandfather of Sage, Hunter and Quinn Pomella and Ashley and Joey Bassill and beloved brother of Francis Maloney of Chelmsford, Marguerite Casey of Arlington and the late Alice Costa. Visiting hours will be held on Monday, September 6 from 4:00 to 8:00pm at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home 74 Elm St. Quincy Center. On Tuesday there will be a gathering at the funeral home at 9:00am, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00am at St. Joseph’s Church 550 Washington St. Quincy.
