Carol A. Mattina

Carol  A. Mattina, 55, of Braintree, MA, formerly of Weymouth, passed away on Tuesday, February 7, 2012 after a long battle with cancer. Carol leaves behind her two loving sons, James and Stephen Mattina. Born in Quincy on March 26, 1956 she was the daughter of the late Marie and Angelo Mattina. Carol was employed at South Shore Mental Health, Foundations Program. She devoted her life to working with families whose children struggled with mental health challenges and advocated at the state level for better services for children and families. She is survived by her sister Linda and family of Holbrook, her brothers Angelo and Michael of Holbrook and her brother Anthony and his family of Arlington, MA. Carol was the loving niece of Josephine Mattina of Quincy and Charles Mattina of Weymouth. She also leaves behind her cousin Marie and long time devoted friend Cheryl. Her wake will be held on Tuesday, February 14 from 6:00 to 9:00pm at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home, 74 Elm St. Quincy Center. A Celebration of her Life will take place at the Glad Tidings Church, 158 Washington St. Quincy on Wednesday, February 15, at 10:00am. Burial will be in Mount Wollaston Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Glad Tidings Church.
