David E. “Dave” Murphy of Falmouth passed away on Monday, March 1, 2010 at age 75. A resident of Hingham for 29 years, Dave spent the past 15 years after his retirement in Falmouth. A graduate of Quincy High School and the College of the Holy Cross, he served as a Captain in the US Air Force in the Korean War and was a partner for 30 years in the CPA firm of Murphy & Kligman in Quincy. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years Violet E. (Biagini) Murphy, and their three children and spouses, Donna (Murphy) and Stephen Jackson of Yardley, PA, Steven and Cathy Murphy of Plymouth, MN, and Brian and Jen Shotz Murphy of Brooklyn, NY, as well as his six grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Dave is also survived by brother Joe Murphy of Hendersonville, NC and cousins Chuck Murphy and Grace Reinult. Pre-deceased by brothers James Murphy of Hingham and Jack Murphy of Williamstown, parents Blanche and James Murphy of Milton, and Charles and Grace Murphy of Quincy. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, March 14 from 2:00 to 6:00PM at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home 74 Elm St. Quincy Center. Family and friends are invited. On Monday there will be a gathering at the funeral home at 9:00AM, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00AM St. Mary’s Church, 115 Crescent St. Quincy. Burial is at Milton Cemetery.
