Charles M. Peters of Quincy passed away at Quincy Nursing & Rehab. Center on Thursday, July 22, 2010 at age 88. Born in So. Boston, he was raised and educated in Somerville. Before retiring, he worked as a foreman for Cibotti Construction in Hyde Park. A WWII Army veteran, Charles was proud to have been a paratrooper in the Airborne Division. His late son Charlie followed in his footsteps as a paratrooper in Vietnam and his grandson James Thomson as an Airborne Ranger serving in Panama. A member of the American Legion Bryant Post, he enjoyed his grandchildren and going to Nantasket Beach. The beloved husband of the late Nancy L. (Spataro) Peters, Charles was the loving father of Joanne Thomson of Quincy and the late Charles M. Peters. He is also survived by his brother Peter Peters of Tewksbury, his sister Margie Fitzgerald of Dennis, 4 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Visiting hours will be held on Monday, July 26 from 4:00 to 8:00pm at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home 74 Elm St. Quincy Center. Family and friends are invited. On Tuesday there will be a gathering at the funeral home at 9:00am followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Mary’s Church, W. Quincy at 10:00am. Burial is at Pine Hill Cemetery. |
