Amalio M. “Mario” Saganich of Weymouth passed away at South Shore Hospital on Sunday, March 21, 2010 at age 77. Born in Yugoslavia where he was raised and educated, he escaped Communist rule in 1960 by fleeing to Italy, then making his way to the US, settling in Weymouth in 1964. He brought with him his skills as a shipwright and worked as a boat carpenter at General Dynamics until his retirement. Former husband of Nancy R. (Raymondi) of Plymouth, Mario was the loving father of Michael Saganich of Plymouth, brother of Ugo Saganich and his wife Rita of Randolph and Maria Muscardin, Renato, Anton, Fiore and Ivan Saganich and their families, all of Croatia, brother-in-law of Diane Raymondi of Weymouth and is also survived by many nieces and nephews in the US and Croatia. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, March 24 from 4:00 to 8:00pm at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home 74 Elm St. Quincy Center. Family and friends are invited. On Thursday there will be a gathering at the funeral home at 11:00am followed by a Funeral Mass at 12:00 noon at St. Joseph’s Church, 550 Washington St. Quincy Point. Cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mario’s memory may be made to Children’s Hospital, 300 Longwood Ave, Boston MA 02115 childrenshospital.org |
