John D. Urbanus of Houghs Neck, Quincy, passed away on Saturday, March 5, 2011 at age 92. Born in Boston, he was raised and educated in So. Boston and moved to Hough’s Neck in 1940. He established Urban Motors in Dorchester and operated it until the early 1970’s when he retired. A lifelong boater, he liked to fish all over Boston Harbor, and was proud to have been a founder and charter member of the Quincy Power Squadron which he ran for many years. The beloved husband of the late Anna (Sanda) Urbanus, John was the loving father of Anna E. Enright of West Yarmouth, Paul Urbanus of Quincy and Jack Urbanus of Archer, FL and is also survived by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Private services have been held. In lieu of flowers, donations in John’s memory may be made to “Vets Day Fund”, C/O Paul Urbanus, Harvey’s Saltwater Fishing Derby, 66 Allerton Street Quincy, MA 02169. |
