Richard J. Dhooge of Braintree passed away on Friday, February 21, 2014 at age 71. Born in Quincy where he was raised and educated, he lived in Quincy Point until 1972 and worked for Boston Edison/NStar before retiring in 2000. The beloved husband of Mary N. (Carson) Dhooge, to whom he was married for 50 years, Richard was the loving father of Richard J. Dhooge, Jr. and his wife Michele of Plymouth and Karen E. Oppman and her husband Richard of Braintree; dear grandfather of Amanda, Richie, Mary, Nicholas, Emma and Mathew of Braintree and Brittany, Ashley and Steven of Plymouth; beloved brother of Barbara Clare and her husband Patrick of Braintree and is also survived by nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, February 25 from 4:00 to 8:00PM at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home 74 Elm St. Quincy Center. Family and friends are invited. On Wednesday there will be a gathering at the funeral home at 8:00AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:00AM at St. Thomas More Church, 8 Hawthorne Rd., Braintree. Burial is at Blue Hill Cemetery.
