William H. Fryar Jr. of Quincy passed peacefully on Friday, September 25, 2015 at age 76, after battling pancreatic cancer courageously for 3 1/2 years. The beloved husband of Marjorie (Smith) Fryar to whom he was married for 54 years, Bill was the loving father of Michael Fryar and his fiancée Katie McCarthy of Quincy, Lisa Fryar Comerford and her husband Dave Comerford of Quincy and the late William Fryar III and Sharon Fryar. He is also survived by his grandchildren Meghan and Eryn McCarthy, his cousin Sheila Pitts, his close friend T.J Clarke and of course his “grandpup” Brady. An iron worker who welded the Hancock and Prudential buildings to the top, Bill was also a welder for the city of Quincy until an injury forced him to retire. He was a devoted caretaker to Marjorie and enjoyed walking his Siberian Husky Brady, riding his Harley Davidson, plowing snow, boating, trips to Foxwoods and was a member of the Quincy Yacht Club. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, September 29 from 4:00 to 8:00PM at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home 74 Elm St. Quincy Center. Family and friends are invited. On Wednesday there will be a gathering at the funeral home at 9:00AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00AM at Holy Trinity Parish, Most Blessed Sacrament Church 1015 Sea St. Quincy. Burial is at Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Research Institute, 44 Binney St., Boston, MA 02215 dana-farber.org.
