John C. Deery of Quincy and Boca Raton, FL passed away Thursday, Jan 3, 2013. John graduated from Cathedral High School in Boston class of 1950 and received an associate degree in Business Management from Fischer Junior College in 1978. After serving his country from 1954-1956, John worked for the Boston Gas Company as a serviceman for 36 years. John was an incredible husband and father; he was an avid golfer and enjoyed boating, camping, fishing, and the outdoors. He was always willing to give a helping hand to his church and community and was the ultimate handyman. The beloved husband of 58 years to the late Jane (O’Neil) Deery, loving father of John M. of Stuart, FL, Patrick of Weymouth, Mary Mattioli of Marlborough, Julie Berberan of Quincy, Susan Kelleher of Boca Raton, FL, Christopher of Cambridge, Hugh of Quincy, Neil of Weymouth, Joseph L. “Joel” of Quincy, and the late Linda J. Deery; grandfather to 30 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. John is also survived by his brother Joseph Deery of W. Roxbury, sisters Patricia Mullaly of West Roxbury and Carol Farren of Falmouth. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, January 17 from 4-8pm at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home, 74 Elm St., Quincy Center. Family and friends are invited. On Friday there will be a gathering at the funeral home at 9:00 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM at Holy Trinity Parish, Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 44 Darrow St., Houghs Neck, Quincy.
