Josephine F. (MacDonald) Hurley, a lifelong resident of Palmer St. in Quincy passed away peacefully on January 5 at Southwood Nursing Center, Norwell. She was 100. Born in Roslindale, she was one of six daughters of the late John (Frank) and Bridget MacDonald. Mrs. Hurley worked as a technician for Raytheon Technologies for 15 years before retiring in 1977. An award winning ballroom dancer, she enjoyed crocheting, cooking, and spending time with extended family. The beloved wife of the late Walter J. Hurley, they were married for over 70 years. Loving mother of Walter and his wife Joyce of Quincy, John (Jack) and his wife Carol of Scituate, Janice Wood and her husband George of East Sandwich, and Stephen and his wife Chris of Hingham; beloved grandmother of Kris Ann Hardiman, Janeen Kardoos, Bridget Dunn, Tara Hallenbeck, Stacy Paterno, John Hurley Jr., the late George Wood Jr., Mark Wood, Christopher Wood, Stephen Hurley Jr., Bryan Hurley, Dennis Hurley, and David Hurley; cherished great grandmother of twenty-three. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, January 9 from 4:00 to 8:00PM at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home 74 Elm St. Quincy Center. Family and friends are invited. On Thursday there will be a gathering at the funeral home at 10:00AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00AM at Holy Trinity Parish, Most Blessed Sacrament Church 1017 Sea St. Quincy. Burial is at Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. Donations in Josephine’s name may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105. |
