John J. Duane, Sr. of Plymouth passed away on Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at age 85. Raised and educated in Quincy, he lived in E. Sandwich, Cotuit and Hingham before moving to Plymouth 3 years ago. A Veteran of the Korean War, US Marine Corps, he worked as an operator supervisor for the John J. Duane Wrecking Co, was the founder and owner of Duane Wrecking, Inc., with his brother Herbert, owner and founder of John Steven Trucking and the owner of the Commercial House Pub. The beloved husband of the late Dorothy L. (Doyle) Duane, John was the loving father of John J. Duane III and his wife Nancy C. Duane of North Hampton, NH and the late Stephen Duane; brother of Herbert Duane of North Conway, NH; father-in-law of Ann Marie Prouty; dear grandfather of Stephen Duane, Christina J. Duane and Juliana Duane Jones; great-grandfather of Emmitt Jones, Brigitte Mae Jones, Holden Owen Jones, Sorena Jones and Olivia Duane. Family and friends are invited to visiting hours which will be held on Saturday, September 3 from 9:00 to 10:30AM at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home 74 Elm St. Quincy Center. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00AM at St. Joseph Church 550 Washington St. St. Quincy. Burial with Military Honors is at Mt. Wollaston Cemetery.
