James E. Leahy of Quincy passed away on Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at age 93. Raised and educated in Braintree, he was a proud US Army WWII Veteran. He served in Battery C in the 552nd Coast Artillery in Europe which protected the Bridge at Remagen and took part in the Battle of the Bulge. He worked for many years as an outside machinist at the Fore River Shipyard and was a member of the Morrisette Post, VFW Post 613, Fore River Long Service Club, Braintree Rifle & Pistol Club, L Street Bathhouse Club, St Moritz Horseshoe Club and the Retired Motorcycle Club. The beloved husband of the late Elizabeth L. (Marchionne) Leahy, Jim was the loving father of Deborah L. Ford and her husband John of Quincy, Robert F. Leahy and his wife Patti Ann of Quincy and the late James E. Leahy, Jr. of CA; father-in-law of Sharon Leahy of CA; dear grandfather of James, Michael, Danny, Adam, Joseph, Samantha, JoAnna, JT, Bobby, Ben and Meg; great-grandfather of 12; brother of Theresa Penney of CA, Alice Tullish of Hull, Helen Lane of Wollaston and the late David, George, Thomas, Clarence, William, Mary O’Donnell, Marion Crowley, Florence Woodsman, Kathleen Miller and Rita Leahy; and is also survive by many nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to visiting hours on Friday, November 11 from 4:00 to 8:00PM at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home 74 Elm St. Quincy Center. On Saturday, there will be a gathering at the funeral home at 9:00AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00AM at St. Joseph Church 550 Washington St. Quincy. Burial will be at a later date.
