John Baptista

John Baptista of Quincy passed away on Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at age 72. Born in Brava, Cape Verde, he was raised and educated in Boston, owned a taxi cab and lived in Randolph prior to moving to Quincy where he’s lived for many years.

The beloved husband of Delvair (Machado) Baptista, John was the loving father of Rose Whitehouse of OH and John Baptista, Jr. of Randolph, dear grandfather of Amanda, Sean, Alex, Armand and Cameron; beloved son of Matilda Baptista of Dorchester and the late Manuel Baptista and is also survived by his brother Jose Tavares of New Bedford and many nieces, nephews, cousins and aunts.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, June 3 from 5:00 to 9:00pm at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home 74 Elm St. Quincy Center. Family and friends are invited. On Saturday there will be a gathering at the funeral home at 8:00am followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:00am at Sacred Heart Church, No. Quincy. Burial will be at Cedar Grove Cemetery, Dorchester.
