Sidney Garth Cann of Quincy passed away on Saturday December 2, 2017 at age 90. Born in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, he was raised and educated in Quincy, where he lived most of his life. He was in the Merchant Marines and then worked as a truck driver for many years for Brewer Petroleum in Revere. He was a member of the Teamsters Local 25 and St. Ann’s Bowling League. The loving husband of the late Dorothy R. (Thorne) Cann, Sidney was the deeply loved father of Susan D. Askin of Longmeadow; the late Stephen G. Cann; Michael G. Cann and his wife Lisa of Norton; and Paul J. Cann and his wife Ginger of McConnelsville, OH; beloved Papa of Michael, Brian, Steve, Rob, Ryan, Eva, Nikole and Harleigh; and is also survived by 7 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to visiting hours which will be held on Sunday, December 10 from 2:00 to 6:00PM at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home 74 Elm St. Quincy Center. On Monday there will be a Funeral Service at 10:00AM in the funeral home chapel. Burial is at Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
