Joseph A. “Chip” Broderick of Weymouth passed away at Boston Medical Center on Thursday, May 27, 2010, at age 64. He was born, raised, and educated in Quincy and then a Weymouth resident for 37 years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam Era. Chip worked as a pipefitter for 38 years for the Pipefitters’ Union, Local 537, and was a member of the Quincy Elks. He was the beloved husband for 38 years of Patricia A. (Cobbett) Broderick and loving father of Michael J. Broderick and his wife Melody Moore of New Britain, CT, Tracey M. Barrett and her husband Thomas of Weymouth, and Kevin W. Broderick and his wife Fernanda of Marshfield. He was the dear grandfather of Nina and Charlie Broderick, beloved brother of William Broderick and his wife Pamela Muirhead of Abington, and the late Patricia Ayotte. He is also survived by his dear aunt Mame, uncle Don, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, June 1, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home, 74 Elm St., Quincy Center. Family and friends are invited. On Wednesday, there will be a gathering at the funeral home at 8:00 am, followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, E. Weymouth at 9:00 am. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, W. Roxbury.
