Adrienne A. (Hart) Duval of Weymouth passed away on July 6, 2015 at the age of 87 after a tumultuous relationship with dementia and Alzheimer’s (both of which never took away her determination to live life to the fullest). The feisty and fiercely independent “Andy” lived life on her own terms up to the very end and was a breast cancer survivor. The wife of the late William R. Duval, of Weymouth, the late Roger Kelliher, and the late Donald L. Sample, she was the loving mother to Gail Roman of Easton and step-mother to Michael Duval and his wife Jan of Manomet; beloved Nana to Stephanie MacDonald and her husband Jason of Stoughton, MA, Ray Roman and his wife Jennifer of Palm Harbor Florida and Justin Duval; loving Great-Grandmother or “GG” to Anthony, Jayce, Jaelynn, Brayden, Jarin, Kellan and Griffin; devoted sister to the late Jacqueline Hart and Virginia Hart.

Adrienne was born in Quincy, MA to John and Caroline Hart and attended North Quincy High School. She had since remained on the reunion committee for her graduation class. At a young age, Andy wanted to become a nun until she fell for her handsome first husband, Donald. She worked most of her life as a waitress and loved meeting new people. In her heyday, Andy loved to play cards and bowl with friends. She frequented Las Vegas and Atlantic City multiple times a year with a wallet of cash for the slots and the shops. Always on the go, she loved to travel with friends and her adoring late husband, Bill. Her favorite story was meeting Frank Sinatra in an elevator in Las Vegas. She was a longtime parishioner of St. Joseph’s Church in Quincy where she became a Eucharistic minister and helped out in the rectory. Adrienne had a generous heart and helped at the local food pantry through her parish until she became too ill. She had endless stories to share with anyone who would listen and said whatever was on her mind. Certainly, her first words when she arrived at the pearly gates into heaven were, “You’re messing with the wrong broad!” May her tenacious spirit and love of life warm the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday July 9 from 4:00 to 8:00PM at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home 74 Elm St. Quincy Center. Family and friends are invited. On Friday there will be a gathering at the funeral home at 9:00AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00AM at St. Joseph Church 550 Washington St. Quincy. Burial is at Fairmount Cemetery, Weymouth.
