Edward “Jiffy” R. Drohan III, 66, of New Bedford, MA, passed away on January 31, 2024. He was born on July 21, 1957, in Brighton, MA. Edward, also known as Jiffy, was a beloved father, brother, and grandfather.

Edward is survived by his children, Jake Drohan of Pembroke, Jesse Drohan of Rockland, Erica (Heroux) Petras of Brockton, Julie (Heroux) Schmidt of Beaverlodge, and John Drohan of San Francisco. Also survived by long time partner and friend, Lisa Heroux.

He was a cherished grandfather to Cora, Jacob, Kayla, Sean, Owen, Henry, Emilie, Kai, and Max. Edward was also a brother to Rain Chenette, Shawn Shaw, Robin Burge, and Scott Drohan and he leaves behind many nieces and nephews.

Edward was preceded in death by his mother, Patricia Drohan, and his father, Edward Drohan II.

Edward grew up in Houghs Neck, attended Quincy High School and later pursued higher education at Quincy College. He had a successful career as a freelance technical writer. He found peace in the patience of bird watching, the beauty of the ocean and the simplicity of camping with those he cared for. He was never one to back away from challenging the status quo and he inspired those around him with little to no effort. As a result he cultivated conviction while preserving the ideals of understanding a perspective other than ones own. He brought a profound sense of wisdom to a world that is far too often labeled as understood, that was his gift, and he shared it with us all.

The family appreciates the support and condolences during this difficult time.

A memorial service will be held at the Knights of Columbus in Quincy, MA from 2-5pm on Sunday February 25, 2024. Please join us in a celebration of his life.
