Alfred “Fred” Arthur Gallinaro of Quincy passed away at the Quincy Medical Center on Saturday October 31, 2009 at the age of 85. Born in Watertown where he was raised and educated, he has lived in the past 67 years in Quincy . A Veteran of the U.S.Army, Fred served his country proudly during WWII. He was the owner and operator of the Canterbury Clothing Company of Watertown which was founded in 1970 and retired from the clothing business in 1990. He was a past president of the Sons of Italy in Watertown and a Past Commadore of the Town River Yacht Club in Quincy.

The beloved husband of Loretta L. (Ventresca) Gallinaro, Fred was the loving father of Al A. Jr. and his wife Lisa of Wrentham, Judith L. Mc Manus and her husband Philip of Topsfield and Janice G. Weizel and her husband Ward of Newton; the beloved grandfather of Alicia, Julianne, Alfred III, Philip B. II, Christine L., Richard A., Lavinia M., Rebecca J., and Alexis; the brother of Salvatore Gallinaro of Quincy, and Robert Gallinaro of Belmont and is also survived by many neices and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home 74 Elm St., Quincy Center on Tuesday, November 3 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00pm. Family and friends are invited. There will be a gathering at the funeral home on Wednesday at 9:00am, followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Joseph’s Church 550 Washington St., Quincy Point at 10:00am. Burial with Military Honors will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Watertown.
