Obituaries

Alicia C. (Weaver) Taylor of Quincy passed peacefully on Monday February 12, 2018, in Fort Covington, NY surrounded by family and friends. A native of Malden, she graduated from Cheverus Centennial High School and was a junior USO hostess during WWII. She lived in Norwell for many years, was a longtime employee of JL Hammetts in Braintree and also worked at Zayre’s in Hanover and Hodges Badge Company in Malden. A 20-year resident of 1000 Southern Artery, she served as the secretary and treasurer of the Artery Bells Chapter of the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed sharing a camp in Vermont for 20 years with family and friends and loved travelling, sewing, knitting, crocheting, reading and musicals. A devout Catholic, she was a congregant of St. Joseph’s Church. Alicia was loved very much and will be missed forever.

The beloved wife of the late Donald Taylor, whom she married in 1953, Alicia was the loving mother of David Taylor of San Diego, Barbara Taylor of Fort Covington, NY, Gordon Taylor and his wife Donna of North Point, FL and Catherine Flores of Sahuarita, AZ; dear grandmother of Michael, Alexis, Jacob, Justin, Catherine and Victoria; great-grandmother of Katie, Logan, Yuziah, Parker, Roman, Ava, Bishop, Maddy and Madison. She is preceded in death by her parents, Lillian C. (Devlin) and Francis V. Weaver, and her brothers, Frank and Ray Weaver.

Family and friends are invited to visiting hours which will be held on Sunday, February 18th from 2:00 to 6:00PM at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home 74 Elm St. Quincy Center. On Monday there will be a gathering at the funeral home at 9:00AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00AM at St. Joseph’s Church 550 Washington St. Quincy. Burial is at Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
