Ann P. “Anna” Murphy of Quincy passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2013 at age 92. Raised and educated in Boston, she graduated from St. Augustine’s High School, So. Boston, Boston Clerical School, Boston College and Boston State where she completed her M.Ed. She worked for the MA Dept. of Education for 18 years and was Boston school teacher for 22 years before retiring in 1981. She was then active in American Irish groups working for human rights in the Six Counties through a United Ireland approach. A member of St. Joseph’s choir, Anna also traveled extensively through Europe, the US & Canada and visited the Holy Land, Russia, the Orient and Mexico.

The beloved daughter of the late John S. and Catherine C. (Battles) Murphy, Anna was the loving sister of Julia S. Murphy of Quincy and is also survived by many cousins, including Maryalice Cummings and her husband Martin who cared for her in her later years.

Family and friends are invited to a visiting hour on Friday, April 5 starting at 9:00AM at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home 74 Elm St. Quincy Center, immediately followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00AM at St. Joseph’s Church 550 Washington St. Quincy. Burial is at New Calvary Cemetery, Boston.
