Barbara Ann (Johnston) Preble of Quincy died February 8, 2018. She was a graduate of Quincy High School in 1951 where she was an active member of the Tri-Hi-Y. She worked for Jordan Marsh for many years before her retirement and delivered Meal-on-Wheels for senior shut-ins. A congregant of Most Blessed Sacrament Church, she was a member of the Ladies Sodality and served as a Den Mother for Cub Scout Pack 36. She was devoted to her large extended family and traveled to many family reunions across the country. Barbara enjoyed ceramics and afternoon games with her grandchildren and sisters.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Robert C. “Bob” Preble of Quincy. She was the loving mother of Robert “Rusty” and his wife Naomi, Scott D. and his wife Stacey, Mark A. and his wife Teri, and Rev. Peter M. and his wife Nicky, all of Weymouth; devoted grandmother of Kate, Alex, Christian, Jacob and Julia; and is also survived by her two sisters, Clare Gambino of Rockland and Nancy Pitts and her husband Herb of Weymouth and many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate her life on Monday, February 12th at visiting hours from 4:00 to 8:00PM at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home 74 Elm St. Quincy Center. On Tuesday there will be a gathering at the funeral home at 9:00AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00AM at Holy Trinity Parish, Most Blessed Sacrament Church 1015 Sea St. Quincy. Cremation will follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in her memory be made to St. Andrews Society Scholarship Fund, PO Box 204, Weymouth, MA 02191.
