Bartholomew “Barney” Caggiano passed away on June 8, 2018 at the great age of 98. He was the father of Maryann Francischelli of CT and Philip Caggiano of Quincy, and the proud grandpa of Nicole and Michael Francischelli. Devoted husband to the late Marie (Nota) and brother to the late Louise Serino of Dedham, he was loved by his many nieces, nephews and numerous friends, many of whom have passed. Barney was the owner of Savin Hill Moving Company of Boston and Quincy. Upon his retirement from the moving business he went to work for the City of Quincy in the water Department. Barney was always involved in making things better, politics especially. He never ran for office but always helped the other guys win. His opinion was valued by many. He served and helped start the Ward II Civic Association in Quincy. He also was a faithful congregant of St. Joseph’s Church for over 70 years and was involved in the Holy Name Society. He was most proud of his time in the U.S. Army during WWII serving in Europe. He got called up before receiving his high school diploma but earned his GED in 1993 and then again was awarded his high school diploma by the City of Boston in 1999 at nearly 80 years of age.

Family and friends are invited to visiting hours which will be held on Friday, June 15th from 9:00AM to 12:30PM at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home 74 Elm St. Quincy Center. Immediately following at 1:00PM, there will be a Funeral Mass at St. Joseph Church 550 Washington St. Quincy. Burial with Military Honors is at New Calvary Cemetery, Boston.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Strong House, 546 Durham Road, Madison, CT 06443, where Barney got to socialize with his peers for the last six months of his living in Connecticut.
