Obituaries

Beverly Arlynn (Brown ) Brand of Quincy passed away on Friday, April 14, 2017 at age 84. Born in Boston, she was raised in Dorchester, a graduate of Jeremiah Burke High School for Girls. She found Quincy to be similar to the Codman Square area where she grew up and lived there for over 40 years. After working for the Bargain Center until it closed, Beverly continued her education, receiving diplomas from secretarial and medical business schools. She then worked for Travelers Indemnity and Casualty Insurance. Both creative and artistic, she made and sold gift baskets; enjoyed drawing for home, building and architecture projects; and was interested in American and Native American history. Beverly contributed ideas for Quincy’s downtown project, including a scale model; served as Aquarius’ secretary and secretary for the president of the Quincy Animal League and was an advocate for the humane treatment of animals.

She is survived by her children, Kathryn L. Egan of Attleboro, Scott C. Brand of OK, Kenneth A. Brand of Quincy and Teresa Mattson of Weymouth; 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Family and friends are invited to visiting hours which will be held on Tuesday, April 18 from 4:00 to 8:00PM at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home 74 Elm St. Quincy Center. On Wednesday there will be a Funeral Service at 10:00AM in the funeral home chapel. Burial is at Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
