Obituaries

Catherine A. (McCann) Grubb of Quincy passed away on Saturday, August 1, 2015, at age 86. Originally from South Boston, she worked in the insurance industry until her retirement 20 years ago. The beloved wife of the late Robert E. Grubb, she was the loving mother of Janice K. Crowell of Weymouth, Deborah A. Lavalley and her husband Malcolm of Pembroke, Linda S. Grubb of Quincy, Robert T. Grubb of Charlestown, Steven M. Grubb of Quincy and the late Pamela J. Grubb; dear sister of George McCann and his wife Mary of Hanson and the late Thomas McCann, Mary O’Brien, Dorothy Marquis and Robert S. McCann; and is also survived by her sister-in-law, Doris McCann of Braintree; her much loved grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held Thursday, August 6, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home, 74 Elm St., Quincy Center. Family and friends are invited. On Friday there will be a gathering at the funeral home at 9:30 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 386 Hancock St., N. Quincy. Burial is at Pine Hill Cemetery, W. Quincy. In lieu of flowers, donations in Kay’s memory may be made to VNA Hospice Care, 100 Trade Center, Suite G-500, Woburn, MA 01801.
