Obituaries

Catherine M. (Griffin) Smith of Quincy passed away surrounded by her family on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at age 93. A longtime Hough’s Neck resident, she was a communicant of Most Blessed Sacrament Church where she was a member of the Ladies’ Sodality. An avid gardener and traveler, she enjoyed being with her family, especially her grandchildren.

The beloved wife of the late Roy M. Smith, Jr., Catherine was the loving mother of Catherine Smith of Marstons Mills, Janet Sullivan of Quincy and Roy M. Smith III and his wife Mary of Duxbury; dear grandmother of Erin Sullivan and her husband Ryan Leuchte, Roy M. Smith IV, Timothy J. Smith and Jillian M. Smith; great grandmother of Samantha Leuchte; beloved sister of James Griffin and his wife Nancy of Canton and is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, May 20 from 4:00 to 8:00PM at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home 74 Elm St. Quincy Center. Family and friends are invited. On Wednesday there will be a gathering at the funeral home at 9:00AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00AM at Holy Trinity Parish, Most Blessed Sacrament Church 1000 Sea St. Quincy. Burial is at St. Mary’s Cemetery, W. Quincy.
