Catherine M. Smith of Marston Mills passed away on February 14, 2023, at the age of 78 surrounded by family.

Catherine, a champion for education, was a graduate of Emmanuel College and Wellesley College. She dedicated her life to teaching, serving more than 40 years as a science teacher. Catherine taught generations of students at Quincy High School, where she served as head of the Science Department. In retirement, she enjoyed the opportunity to continue teaching at Mount St. Joseph’s Academy in Brighton.

A life-long learner, Catherine enjoyed reading and traveling. Her travels took her across the country and around the world. She took particular joy in family trips to Walt Disney World. Catherine cherished spending time with the people she loved, her family and friends.

Beloved daughter of the late Roy and Catherine (Griffin) Smith; loving sister of Janet Sullivan of Quincy, Roy Smith and his wife Mary of Duxbury; dear aunt of Erin Sullivan and her husband Ryan, Roy Smith and his wife Kimberly, Timothy Smith, and Jillian Smith. Catherine was also the adoring aunt of four grand nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to visiting hours on Monday, February 20th from 3:00PM-6:00PM at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home, 74 Elm Street, Quincy Center. On Tuesday, there will be a service in the Funeral Home at 10:00AM. Burial to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, West Quincy.
