Charles M. Hagan of Quincy passed away at Colonial Nursing & Rehab Center in Weymouth on Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at the age of 102. Born in Lawrence, he was raised and educated in the Merrimack Valley and lived most of his life in Houghs Neck, Quincy. A WWII Army veteran, Charles worked for the US Postal Service at the South Boston Postal Annex for 25 years before retiring in 1977. A volunteer at Fr. Bill’s Place, he was very active at Most Blessed Sacrament Church where he was the oldest acolyte. Also active in the community, he was a recipient of the Houghs Neck Community Council’s Good Neighbor Award.

The beloved husband for over 60 years of Alice M. (Landers) Hagan, Charles is also survived by his son LCDR Ralph K. Hagan, USN, Ret. of Lewes, DE, 2 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, his sister, Eleanor Flibotte of Quincy and many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home 74 Elm St. Quincy Center on Sunday, October 25 from 2:00 to 6:00pm. Family and friends are invited. There will be a gathering at the funeral home on Monday at 9:00am followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00am at Holy Trinity Parish, Most Blessed Sacrament Church. Cremation will follow.
