Christine M. (Busalacchi) Gaffney of Quincy passed away on Thursday, May 24, 2018 at age 84. Born in Boston where she was raised and educated, she lived in South Weymouth for 51 years before moving to Brookdale in Quincy in 2014. Christine earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Emmanuel College in 1954 and a Master’s Degree in Education at Boston College in 1958. In her early career she was a 4th grade teacher. After raising 7 children, she dedicated her life’s work as Director of Religious Education at St. Francis Xavier in South Weymouth for over 25 years. The beloved wife of Thomas L. Gaffney, devoted mother of Robert Gaffney of So. Weymouth, Anthony Gaffney and his wife Lauren of Randolph, NJ, Gina Doherty and her husband Brian of Braintree, Maria Rice and her husband Keith of Marshfield, Anita Joyce and her husband Jeremiah of Westford, Noelle Low and her husband Evan of Plymouth and the late Leo Gaffney; proud, affectionate and loving “Mimi” to Penny, Johnny, Spencer, Teddy, Jerry, Thomas, Joseph and Margaret; loving sister of Rosemarie Buckley and her husband John of Rockville, MD and Joanne Busalacchi of Bethany Beach, DE; and is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Full of life, laughter, and always ready to socialize with family and friends right up until her last days, Christine “Kithy” will be remembered for her deep empathy, kind nature, wisdom and spiritual strength.

Family and friends are invited to visiting hours which will be held on Tuesday, May 29th from 4:00 to 8:00PM at St. Joseph Church 550 Washington St. Quincy. On Wednesday there will be a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM at the church. Burial is at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, So. Weymouth.

Christine lived the last few years of her life with limited mobility. Because of the support and care she received from the dedicated staff at Brookdale, she was able to live autonomously and with dignity. This made a difference for which we are eternally grateful.

Donations in memory of Christine may be made to the Brookdale Quincy Bay Associate Appreciation Fund at Brookdale, 99 Brackett St. Quincy MA 02169.
