Obituaries

Claire Joan “Joni” Brennan of Quincy passed away at Brigham & Women’s Hospital on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at age 24. She began her earthly journey on September 27, 1990 and has blessed the lives of all those who have had the privilege of knowing her. A lifelong Quincy resident, she graduated from Quincy High School and UMass Boston, Class of 2014 and worked as a counselor at the Germantown Neighborhood Center. The beloved daughter of Paul J. and Claire (McCauley) Brennan, Joni was the loving sister of Diana M., Megan M. and Patricia R. Brennan, all of Quincy, and is also survived by her aunts, uncles and cousins.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, October 17 from 4:00 to 8:00PM at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home 74 Elm St. Quincy Center. Family and friends are invited. On Saturday there will be a gathering at the funeral home at 9:00AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00AM at Holy Trinity Parish, Our Lady of Good Counsel Church 227 Sea St. Quincy. Burial is at Pine Hill Cemetery, W. Quincy.

Since the airing of this article Joni has continued to find joy in her journey and in the process has brought joy to thousands of others.   She spent her first year of college at Salem State, where she lived on campus and made many good friends.  In her sophomore year, she transferred to UMass Boston and continued her studies there earning a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology on May 31, 2014.
