Deputy Chief Ret. Cornelius J. “Neil” Quinn, QFD, died peacefully on Sunday, May 2, 2010 at age 95. Born in Quincy where he was raised and educated, he was a lifelong resident and WWII veteran US Navy Seabees (Fighting Seabees). A 32-year member of the Quincy Fire Dept., he retired in 1976 with the rank of Deputy Chief. He was a member of the VFW in FL and Quincy’s Morrissette Post and in his youth he enjoyed soccer.

The beloved husband of Alice B. (Chubet) Quinn, Neil was the loving father of Thomas Quinn and his wife Marjorie of Dedham, Judith Doherty of Quincy, Neil Quinn of Plymouth and the late Robert Quinn; father-in-law of Debby Quinn; dear grandfather of Patricia Dellamano and her husband Steve, Kelly Quinn, Kathryn Doherty, James Doherty, and Annie Doherty, all of Quincy, Amber Quinn of Dedham and Derek and Adam Quinn, both of Cambridge beloved brother of Barbara Armstrong of Medfield, Betty Flaherty of Milton and Francis Quinn of Northbrook, IL. He is also survived by 4 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, May 4 from 4:00 to 8:00pm at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home 74 Elm St. Quincy Center. Family and friends are invited. On Wednesday, there will be a gathering at the funeral home at 9:30am, followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Agatha’s Church, Milton at 10:30 am. Burial with Military Honors will be at Pine Hill Cemetery, W. Quincy.
