Obituaries

Cornelius M. Cahill age 90, passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2015. A lifelong Quincy resident, he was a US Army Veteran WWII where he was a member of the 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment of the 82nd Airborne Div. and a POW. Mr. Cahill worked as a clerk for the US Post Office where he worked for 40 years before retiring and was a member of the DAV and the George F. Bryan VFW Post 613.

The loving husband of the late Mary (Gaitens) Cahill, he was the beloved father of Annmarie Alakel and her husband John of Weymouth and Thomas P. Cahill and his wife Jayne of  Pembroke; dear grandfather of Nicholas and Megan Alakel and Cara, Thomas and Christen Cahill; beloved brother of Margaret M. Mahoney of CA, Geraldine F. McPartland of Weymouth and the late Jeremiah, Thomas and Patricia Cahill.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday. July 29 from 4:00 to 8:00PM at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home 74 Elm St. Quincy Center. Family and friends are invited. On Thursday there will be a gathering at the funeral home at 9:00AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 at St. Joseph’s Church 550 Washington St. Quincy Point. Burial with Military Honors is at Pine Hill Cemetery, W. Quincy.
