Daniel A. Cocio of Quincy passed away at the Colonial Nursing & Rehab. Center in Weymouth on Monday, October 19, 2009 at age 88. Born in Roxbury, he was raised and educated in Quincy, living here all his life. A WWII Army veteran, he worked for the City of Quincy Water Dept. for 30 years before retiring. He was a member of the Torre dei Passeri and the South Quincy Bocce Club.

The beloved husband of the late Carmella (Salverio) Cocio, Dan is lovingly survived by his daughter Linda M. Smith and her husband Wayne D. of Quincy, his dear granddaughter Danielle M. Smith of NJ, his brother-in-law Alfred Gianotti of Rockland, his sisters-in-law Phyllis Cocio of Quincy and Theresa White of Warwick, RI, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home 74 Elm St. Quincy Center on Thursday, October 22 from 3:00 to 7:00pm. Family and friends are invited. There will be a gathering at the funeral home on Friday at 9:30am followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Joseph’s Church, Quincy Point at 10:30am. Burial with Military Honors will be at Pine Hill Cemetery.

Dan’s family would like to thank the staff on RM-1 at the Colonial Nursing Home for all the love and care given to him.
