Donald Vernon Negethon Jr  “Neggie” age 66, died Tuesday September 30th, 2014 at his home in Pawleys Island SC.  Born in Boston, he was a son of the late Sarah and Donald V Negethon Sr. Loving husband of 42 years to his wife Mary E Faherty Negethon of Pawleys Island SC and devoted father to his princess / daughter Caitlin Dowd Negethon of North Myrtle Beach SC. Brother of Barbara Norkus and her husband Peter. Son-in-law of Patricia M Faherty; brother-in-law of Kathleen and Raymond Linnell; Patricia and Frank Graham; Michael and Marysue Faherty; Ann and Paul Murphy. “Uncle D” was also survived by many nieces and nephews.

A 1971 graduate of Northeastern University he made his living as a business owner in Massachusetts and South Carolina. Born and raised in Massachusetts, he carried the love for his home state to South Carolina where he began his retirement and senior golf career. He was known to all that was blessed to meet him as the life of the party, a sports encyclopedia and a man with a large heart who welcomed all. Donald “Neggie” was a former member of Halifax Country Club, Plymouth Country Club, Plymouth Yacht Club and the Knights of Columbus in MA and SC.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, October 8 from 9:00 to 10:30AM at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home 74 Elm St. Quincy Center. A Funeral Mass will follow at  11:00AM at Holy Trinity Parish, Our Lady of Good Counsel Church 227 Sea St. Quincy.  Family and friends are invited.
