Dorothy B. (Bishop) Streun, age 99, of Quincy died peacefully at the Hancock Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Home on Sunday, January 23, 2011 with loving family members at her side. Born in Boston, she was raised in Quincy, graduated from Milton High School and attended Colby College in NH. Dorothy worked as a seamstress and spent many years making draperies. In her later years she enjoyed knitting and crocheting, selling many of her beautiful items at craft fairs at O’Brien Towers where she resided for 13 years.

The beloved wife of the late George Streun, Dorothy was the devoted mother of Janet Walker and her husband James of Quincy and the late Shirley Newman and her husband Paul of Braintree; loving grandmother of Deborah Dolan and her husband Edward and James Walker and his wife Karen, all of Quincy, Robert and his wife Pamela of NH, Cheryl Newman and her husband Charles Wise of MD, Donna Newman of Newport, RI, Jayne McGowan and her husband Edward and Gregory Newman, all of Braintree, Jeffrey Newman and his wife Mari of W. Bridgewater and Paul Newman, Jr. and his wife Janet of Charlton, MA; endearing great grandmother of Kayla, Keri, Joshua, Lisa, Alexander, William, Jason, Jimmy, Eddie, James, Julianne, Caroline, Kellie, Jay, Veronica, Alex, Conor and Chase and loving sister of the late Harry, George and Sue Bishop.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, January 25 from 4:00 to 8:00pm at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home 74 Elm St. Quincy Center. Family and friends are invited. On Wednesday there will be a Funeral Service at the funeral home at a 12:00 Noon. Interment will be private.
