Dorothy Perkins DelGizzi, born December 26, 1926, died after a long battle with emphysema November 9, 2009 at age 82, surrounded by her family including her husband of 62 years, Louis J. DelGizzi. She was born and raised in Quincy where she remained a lifelong resident. A graduate of Quincy High School, she worked hard her entire life and enjoyed contributing to her family. As an employee of Sevigny’s, she met her husband. She cooked clams, he peeled potatoes and insisted on driving her home. She thought he was “a good guy with a good heart.” The rest is history. Mrs. DelGizzi also worked at Proctor and Gamble and in the printing room of the Patriot Ledger until her retirement. A lifelong Red Sox fan, she cheered for them long before they were Champions, but was happy to witness two World Series wins before her death. She also enjoyed playing cards, especially Kings in the Corner with her husband, as well as Bingo, music and dancing. She was known to jitterbug on occasion. Mrs. Del Gizzi was a member of Quincy Point Congregational Church.

She was the loving mother of Theresa and J. Lawrence Munson of Andover, Dorothy and Stephen Moar of Hanover and the late Louis H. DelGizzi and is also survived by her grandchildren Jennifer L. and Vincent VanDerLinden, Kristen M. and Matthew C. Munson, Brendan M. and Elizabeth T. Moar and William V. and Louis A. DelGizzi.

She had “no regrets.”

Visiting hours will be held at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home 74 Elm St. Quincy Center on Wednesday, November 11 from 4:00 to 8:00pm. Family and friends are invited. On Thursday there will be a Funeral Service in the funeral home at 11:00am. Burial is in Mt. Wollaston Cemetery.
