Elizabeth J. “Betty” (Cockburn) Ford of Abington passed away on Thursday, October 1, 2015  at age 73. Born in Quincy where she was raised and educated, she also lived in Rockland for 12 years. Betty worked as a nurse’s assistant at John Scott House and Norfolk County Hospital and enjoyed cribbage, bowling, reading and television. She was a longtime member of TOPS and was proud to have recently received her KOPS pin.

The daughter of the late George and Dorothy Cockburn, Betty was the beloved wife of the late James M. Ford and Arthur F. Sargent; loving mother of Michael E. Sargent and his wife Karen of Middleboro, Steven A. Sargent and his wife Barbara of Weymouth and Karen E. Ercolini and her husband William of Rockland; proud grandmother of Michael E. Sargent, Jr., Christine Sargent, Kimberlee Dawn Ercolini, Matthew R. Sargent, Emily K. Sargent, Brady A. Sargent, Megan R. Sargent, Joseph C. Ercolini and Mary-Hanna Sargent; great-grandmother of Ethan, Sekiah, Bella and Connor; beloved sister of Edward H. Cockburn of ME and the late Richard F. Cockburn; sister-in-law of Marcia Cockburn of ME and is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, October 7 from 4:00 to 8:00PM at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home 74 Elm St. Quincy Center. Family and friends are invited. On Thursday there will be a gathering at the funeral home at 9:00AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00AM at St. Joseph Church 550 Washington St. Quincy. Cremation will follow.
