Ellen L. (Flaherty) Tennihan of Plymouth passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, August 24, at the age of 81. Born in Quincy, she graduated from Quincy High School, received a B.S. Degree from Stonehill College and a Master’s Degree in Guidance and Counseling from Bridgewater State College. She retired from the East Bridgewater School System as a guidance counselor and school psychologist.

In her lifetime, Ellen belonged to many organizations, including the MA Teacher’s Association, the South Shore Guidance Association, the National School Psychologists Association, Delta Kappa Gamma and the MA Women’s Golf Association. An avid golfer for many years, she was most proud of having once won a MA Women’s Golf Association Championship in her class. Among her many interests, Ellen also enjoyed traveling, volunteer work, reading, dining out and playing bridge.

Above all, Ellen will be remembered as a devoted mother and grandmother whose compassion, dedication and love were second to none.

The beloved wife of the late Joseph W. Tennihan, she was the loving mother of Joanne McMillian and her husband Thomas of Montville, NJ, Louise Lavin and her husband Peter of Brockton and Daniel Kulick of Brockton. She was the loving grandmother of Brittany and Christopher Lavin of Brockton.

At her family’s request, services will be private.
