Ellen McGuinness Lamie of No. Quincy passed away on Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at age 78. Born in Quincy where she was raised and educated, she worked in transportation for the US Government in the Fargo Building in Boston before retiring.

Ellen was the mother of Jamie Lamie, Jean Lamie and Julie Lamie, all of Quincy and Paul Lamie of Holbrook; grandmother of Christina Gravina, Victoria Saar and Alexandria Saar, all of Quincy, Denise Shorter of Portland OR, Ryan Lamie of Pembroke and Liam Foley of PA ; beloved sister of Marguerite Della Barba and her husband Carmello of Quincy and the late Jean and Thomas McGuinness and is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, October 15 from 4:00 to 8:00pm at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home 74 Elm St. Quincy Center. Family and friends are invited. On Saturday there will be a gathering at the funeral home at 10:00am, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00am St. Joseph’s Church, 550 Washington St. Quincy. Burial will follow at Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
