Francis A. Nigro of Quincy passed away on Monday, October 1, 2012 at age 96. Born in Quincy, he was a lifelong resident and a devout parishioner of St. John the Baptist Church. A quiet and gentle man, Francis was a 1934 graduate of Quincy Trade School and was a member of Local 17 of the Sheet Metal Workers Union. A WWII veteran, he served in the US Army stationed in Germany from 1945-1946. He enjoyed travelling, but was happiest at home with his family.

The beloved husband of the late Josephine (DiCalogero) Nigro, Francis was the loving father of Frank Nigro, Jr. and his wife Audrey of North Attleboro and Mary Wood and her husband Edwin of Alexandria, VA; dear grandfather of Nina Marie Thomas and her husband Christopher of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Francesca Nigro of Charlotte, NC, Teresa Wood of Washington, DC and Cristina Wood of Alexandria, VA; dear brother of the late Thomas Jr., Salvatore, Emil, Frank, William, Charles and Jennie Nigro, Peter Molinaro, Mary Mariano, Ann Fuller, Elizabeth Carini, Lena Pica, Julia Hanson and Mary Moscone; and is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, October 5 from 4:00 to 8:00PM at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home 74 Elm St. Quincy Center. Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend. On Saturday there will be a gathering at the funeral home at 9:00AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00AM at St. John the Baptist Church 44 School St. Quincy. Burial will be at Pine Hill Cemetery.
