Francis J. “Franny” Robbins of Braintree, formerly of West Quincy, passed away at home, surrounded by his family on Friday, November 6, 2009 at age 73. Born in Quincy, where he was raised and educated, he lived in Braintree for 45 years. A US Army veteran of the Korean War, Franny worked as a mason for the Bricklayers’ Union Local 3 for 30 years before his retirement and was a member of the Cyril P. Morrisette Post.

The beloved husband of Shirley F. (Reel) Robbins, he was the loving father of Debra A. Curtin, Brenda L. Roman and Michelle A. Hinthorne and her husband Jon, all of Braintree and the late Karen Marie Robbins and Francis J. Robbins, Jr. He was the dear grandfather of Francis James III, Donal J. III, Kaitlyn M, Sarah M., Richard F, Courtney L., Matthew J., and Jon D. II; brother of Marjorie Plant of Easton and FL and Albert Robbins of Brockton and the late Donald, Charles, Howard, George, and John Robbins and Barbara Giannini and is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, November 10 from 4:00 to 8:00pm at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home 74 Elm St. Quincy Center. Family and friends are invited. On Wednesday there will be a gathering at the funeral home at 9:00am followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Mary’s Church, W. Quincy at 10:00am. Burial with Military Honors will be at Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
