Francis J. Steinkrauss of Weymouth passed away on March 29, 2014 at age 88. Raised and educated in Quincy, he was a WWII Navy Veteran who served on the USS Midway. A plank owner of the aircraft carrier, Francis took part in Operation Frostbite. After working at the Fore River Shipyard he and a partner opened South Shore Auto Spring where he worked as an auto mechanic until retiring. A patient, gentle man, he devoted his entire life to his family. His deep faith was a gift and example to all those around him. He will be greatly missed.

The loving husband of the late Margaret J. (Tajc) Steinkrauss, Francis was the devoted father of Neal F. Steinkrauss and his wife Antoinette, David P. Steinkrauss and his wife Ann Marie, Phillip J. Steinkrauss and his wife Denise and Richard A. Steinkrauss, all of Weymouth; dear grandfather of Christina Kwash, Theresa Benoit, Anna Steinkrauss, Regina McGrath, Angela Kasper, Joseph, John, Michael, Gabriella & Thomas Steinkrauss, Lisa Rasnic, Kimberly Damon and Cynthia Barnes; great-grandfather of Emily, Cody, Julie, Mary, Catherine, Julia, Timothy, Andrew, Jillian, Jude, Kendall, Bennett, Ava, Elsie and Nate; beloved uncle of Monica and Robert Solarchick of Weymouth; and is also survived by his sisters, Mary E. Steinkrauss of Weymouth and Theresa Mikkola of Idaho and many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, April 2 from 4:00 to 8:00PM at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home 74 Elm St. Quincy Center. Family and friends are invited. On Thursday there will be a gathering at the funeral home at 8:30AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:30AM Sacred Heart Church 55 Commercial St. Weymouth Landing. Burial with Military Honors is at Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
