Gail A. (Hutchison) Cody, of Weymouth passed away at the age of 81 surrounded by her family on June 7, 2023. Raised and educated in Quincy and Weymouth, she lived most of her life in Weymouth. Gail was a retired clerk for CNA Insurance.

Gail was the beloved daughter of the late John and Inez (Daru) Hutchison; loving mother of Debra Smith and her husband David of Weymouth and Jane Mullen and her husband Michael of Weymouth; devoted grandmother of her six grandchildren, Paul A. Smith, David B. Smith Jr., Julianne C. Smith-Kinneen, William J Mullen, Matthew P Mullen and Samantha N. Mullen and her great-grandchildren, Bennett Smith, Callum Smith and Ryan Kinneen; dear sister of Jeanne C. Mosman and the late Diane M. Sellon; sister-in-law of Edward and Laine Cody. Gail was also predeceased by her former husband Paul A. Cody, her step father Herman Perry, and step sister Patricia Gerrish. Gail is also survived by many nephews, nieces, and cousins.

Gail enjoyed many wonderful times spent with her family, celebrating holidays, birthdays, special family occasions, sleepovers with the grandchildren, and family trips to Disney World. She especially loved participating in family game nights with her grandchildren who were amazed by her competitive spirit and love to reminisce about the night she beat us all at Apple to Apples. Gail was an avid gardener who enjoyed spending time designing and planting flowers in her many gardens. She loved creating crafts and baking for the holidays for her family. Many of her holiday wreaths adorn her daughter’s homes and her pizzelles and Italian anise cookies were a family favorite. Gail had an abundance of faith and took great pleasure in attending bible study as well as teaching CCD to young first graders at Sacred Heart Church.

Family and friends are invited to visiting hours on Sunday, June 11th from 2:00PM-5:00PM at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home, 74 Elm Street, Quincy Center. On Monday, there will be a gathering at the Funeral Home at 9:30AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30AM at Sacred Heart Church, Weymouth. Burial to follow at Pine Hill Cemetery, Quincy.

In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, a donation in Gail’s memory may be made to the Town of Weymouth Scholarship Fund in memory of Billy Mullen.
