Gloria M. (Stuart) Garity of Quincy, Wellfleet and Vero Beach, FL passed away on Thursday, April 21, 2011 at age 82. The beloved wife of 60 years of Joseph I. Garity, Jr., she was the loving mother of Paul Garity and his wife Dana of Manhattan Beach, CA, Kathleen Pietrasik and her husband John of Bedford, MA, Janice Garity and her husband Doug Gold of Bolton, MA, Patricia Koteras and her husband Joseph of Los Alamitos, CA, Kevin Garity and his wife Margie of Hanover, MA, Brian Garity and his wife Rachel of Boston and Michael Garity and his wife Helen of Newton, MA; dear “Grammy” to 18 loving grandchildren; sister of the late Robert G. Stuart of Fresno, CA, and is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Born in Quincy, Gloria was a graduate of Quincy High School and Chandler Secretarial School in Boston and was Miss Quincy Bay, 1946. A wonderful lady, she was a wife and mother whose entire life revolved around caring for her loving family. An avid bridge and Scrabble player, she also loved doing crossword puzzles. She will be remembered for her loving way, her generous spirit and her kind heart.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday, April 25 from 3:00 to 8:00pm at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home 74 Elm St. Quincy Center. Family and friends are invited. On Tuesday there will be a gathering at the funeral home at 9:00am followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00am at St. Mary’s Church 115 Crescent St. Quncy. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
